U19 Boys Past Seasons

2011 Season

2010_champions_smallThe U19 Dingoes are the defending 2010 EPRU (Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union), MARFU (Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union), and Pennsylvania State Champions! The team consists of players from Downingtown High School East and Downingtown High School West.

Since the team draws from more than a single school, they compete in the U19 (club) bracket of the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU).

This year the U19 Boys will be fielding both a Division I and a Division II team.

DI Boys Rout Central Dauphin 71-0

The DI squad was clicking on all cylinders Sunday as they routed visiting Central Dauphin 71-0. The win gave the Dingoes a much needed boost – both in confidence and in match points, solidifying their position in the EPRU Division I West.

Recovering from a disappointing loss to Carlisle the week before – and still beset by injuries to key players (Steve Palmieri, Conor Bryant, Pat Porreau, Jared Magill) – the Dingo coaching staff made a few subtle shifts in the line-up that paid. . . Read More

U 19 Boys II Fall to Hempfield 19-15

The D II Dingoes hosted the Hempfield Knightmares Sunday for a fierce battle in which Hempfield prevailed 19-15. The Dingoes struck first after a team effort of steady gains with crisp passing and tenacious ball carrying put them at the 20 meter line. Mike Mariani then pulled the ball out of the scrum and passed to Jack Byrnes who drew the defense and flipped the ball  to Melvin Davis who barreled in for the try and a 5-0 lead. DI Survives Barbarian Onslaught; B-Side FallsThe DI Dingoes A side survived a late 2nd half onslaught by the Upper Dauphin Barbarians this past Sunday to escape with a 33-29 win, improving to 1-1 on the season. The defensive let down at the end of the game as well as a number of injuries to key players made the victory bittersweet, however.

U19 Boys I Defeat West Chester

Downingtown U19 played West Chester Area U19 tonight in a cold, rainy, muddy match that pitted neighboring School  Districts in what can only be a new County rivalry.

Junior Outside Center, Tim Connell, scored on a crash set up off a single phase right from opening kickoff.  The conversion was no good.  After some impressive West Chester drives, Fly half Tim Hamill (Junior) scored  off a dummy play from 10 out diving under a West Chester Flanker.  Prop Tyler Burke. . . DII Tackles Tie with Blackthorn

The D-II Dingoes traveled to Horsham for an intense battle with Blackthorn that ended in a 17-17 tie. Blackthorn scored first with a try and successful conversion midway through the first half after both teams had stopped each other on several possessions. The Dingoes responded quickly when Joe Miller punched it in after Chris Bates moved the ball close to the goal line. Brian Kobylt kicked the conversion to tie the score 7-7.
